I recently joined Meghan Carney on her podcast Outdoor Minimalist to discuss training tips for hiking with your dog. Most people’s dream when hiking? Being able to let your dog off leash without stress! So, how do you train off leash reliability?

Outdoor minimalist: Tips for hiking with your dog

I’m not going to lie- I was INCREDIBLY nervous to go on a podcast.

There’s something terrifying about recording something, and having those words be permanently available to the public!

However, I’m so glad I did it.

Meghan was fun to talk to, and I love how it turned out.

We discussed one of my absolute favourite things: Tips for hiking with your dog!

If you’re going to let your dog off leash, you need to make sure you train off leash reliability first!

This episode covers everything you need to start hiking with your dog. We discussed tips for being prepared, how to train off leash reliability, what tools to use, and other obedience cues that would be helpful 🙂

You can listen to my episode on the Outdoor Minimalist anywhere podcasts are found, or by clicking the link below! (Spotify link).

I really hope you’ll give it a listen!

Thanks so much to Meghan for inviting me on your show!

Happy training 🙂

My mission at Happy Hounds is to help owners train their dogs using positive, force-free methods. A trained dog is less likely to end up in a shelter, and a dog trained with positive methods is more likely to be confident & happy. Everyone wins!
